New hens a laying!

It finally started the little chicks we got last fall have started helping out with egg production!

Unfortunately they are more free-rangers then the other birds so now we get to have impromptu Easter egg hunts.. Here is a picture of one that likes to lay in the compost bin (two full size eggs for size comparison)

Once the green stuff starts to come up the girls go back in the coop so they’ll (I assume) follow what the other hens do using the boxes but until then /Hunt On!

Another with a larger egg for scale..

The young hens have had some strange first eggs a lot have been double yolks and there were a couple that came out with soft shells kinda like snake eggs!
